You know your pet’s everyday life. We want to hear what you’re noticing, even if you can’t quite explain it. You don’t need the medical term: “She’s just not herself” is a great place to start.
We’ll talk through our recommendations together. Why this vaccine? What can we learn from blood work? We want you to feel comfortable with the plan for your pet.
They don’t have to be brave.
You don’t owe us an apology for a frightened pet, and we won’t turn a nail trim into a four-person wrestling match. We use low-stress handling and take your pet’s fear seriously.
For some pets, we may recommend medication before a visit to take the edge off. If getting your cat into the carrier is already the hardest part of your morning, tell us before you come.

Dr. Jacquie Cobb owns South Town and sees patients here. She bought the practice from Dr. Crittenden because she wanted to keep it independent and carry on the personal care South Elgin families have known for more than 25 years.
She leads our team and sets the expectation that we listen to a frightened pet, explain our recommendations, and work with your family’s budget.
Before vet school, she founded Second City Canine Rescue (opens in a new tab) to help dogs get out of shelters and into homes. She knows how much an animal can mean to the person waiting for them.

Yes. Dr. Jacquie Cobb, a practicing veterinarian, owns South Town Animal Hospital. We’re a privately owned practice, and we make decisions about your pet’s care here with you.

We do. Our veterinarians care for dogs and cats, from regular wellness visits to dental care, surgery, and appointments when something’s wrong.
My pet gets nervous at the vet. Can you help?
Tell us before your visit, especially if you’re dreading the carrier or the car ride. We use low-stress handling and may recommend medication ahead of time to help take the edge off. We’ll talk with you about what might help your particular pet.
Can we talk about the cost before deciding what to do?
Of course! We want you to understand our recommendations and feel comfortable discussing your budget. We’ll talk through your options and do our best to work within it. We also offer Cherry and CareCredit financing.
