What you need to know about influenza…

This virus only affects dogs and is harmless to humans and cats

Dogs of any age can be affected and it is transmitted through another dog coughing or sneezing

Symptoms typically appear 3-5 days after exposure

How to protect your pet…

Keep your dog away from other other dogs or dog owners

Wash your hands and clothes before seeing another dog to reduce risk of transmission

The influenza vaccine is recommended for dogs that will have contact with other dogs. This vaccine is given in a series of two vaccines given three weeks apart.

Schedule an appointment if your dog shows any symptoms of illness including sneezing, coughing, lethargy, fever and trouble breathing
